FIELD GOODS - fresh spin on Community Supported Agriculture

Albany and Hudson Valley locals friends! If you've always wanted to reap the benefits of a CSA and enjoy local farm fresh produce (and support the local farmers who grow them!), I just learned about a new-ish company (they started in 2010 I think) called Field Goods.

It sounds fantastically easy – just like a traditional CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), you purchase a subscription, but there are a few things that make a big difference and can tip the balance if you have been uncertain about joining one. Most importantly (to me!) is that you PAY WEEKLY. The other thing that is nice, is that there are many public pick-up sites for which you can sign up AND it is all bagged and ready for you when you get there. And you can either suspend your subscription or cancel at any time. For a few dollars extra, it looks like you can also sign up for just single weeks at a time.

Their mission is “to open the floodgates for the flow of local food by delivering food of superior taste, freshness, and nutritional value to as many people as we can find and to be a good partner to our farmers.”

I could go on extolling what I think are the many virtues but you'll probably fair better by just checking them out directly! My first weekly pick up is today!

UPDATE:

Having collected my first bag of amazingly wondrous and delicious selection of produce from Field Goods, I thought I'd take a quick moment to report in - this week's selection was red leaf lettuce, arugula, rainbow swiss chard, crimini mushrooms, red skin potatoes, and chives.  I also had purchased an additional herb share in which there was cipolini onions and horseradish!

Here are a few quick photos of just some of this week's beautiful bounty!

Farm fresh egg (Skyhill Farms)on top of sauteed Rainbow Swiss Chard, Crimini Mushrooms and Cipolini Onions.  Arugula and Quinoa Salad and spelt (no yeast) toast.  I'll update with recipes soon.

Everyone is enjoying farm fresh goodness!
